within the Hounslow borough through the Hounslow Council Homeless
Persons Unit and Gurnam Singh was our residential housekeeper.
Gurnam was a qualified care worker and this alongside his love
for people enabled him to look after all the people including

Removal men help the homeless
<A Hounslow courier firm transformed its staff into removal men for the day to help remove an old shed from the garden of the Mission in Hounslow Trust's house for homeless people. The house was purchased by the Trust to give temporary accommodation to those in need whilst they seek permanent housing. Deltec Courier International Ltd that is based in Hounslow has offered to assist by supplying a vehicle and drivers when required and this has been a boom to the Trust.

Mission in Hounslow and Deltec International Courier Ltd
joined forces with the 'Feed the Hungry Hearts'
Mission in Hounslow and Deltec International Courier Ltd joined
forces with the 'Feed the Hungry Hearts' project that opened for
three days over Christmas. A Christmas tree was donates and decorated
by Deltec and also the Company gave food and gifts for the many
visitors that came along for breakfast, dinner and supper.

Escaping Homelessness
Hakim was a refuge when he arrived with his family in Britain from war ravaged Somalia a decade ago. Seven years later he was homeless and jobless, drifting from hostel to hostel in search for permanent accommodation. After staying in a Mission in Hounslow Trust house for one year Hakim now has gainful employment and a housing trust has given him permanent housing.

Cash boost for Homeless mission men
The Mission in Hounslow Trust won recognition for the work it does for helping the homeless. The Trust was awarded the annual Anthony Everett Memorial prize of £500 by the Thames Community Foundation, a charity that approaches business for donation. The mission provided a house for homeless men. Colin Windsor, who runs the Trust with his wife Madeleine, said, "We are very grateful for the award, it's absolutely bang-on. Money is vital to us at this early stage - we only bought the house last year and already the house is full.

Mayor's Appeal Fund
Mission in Hounslow Trust was the named Mayor's Charity for 2000/2001. Madeleine Windsor, the Trust's secretary, received a cheque from the former mayor of Hounslow Connie Sandhu, for the work of the 'Feed the Hungry Hearts' drop in centre.

Donations for the Homeless
Feed the Hungry Hearts was is always busy over the Christmas period with many homeless and lonely people coming to the Pears Road drop-in centre. An anonymous gift of £500 purchased an industrial refrigerator and many items of clothes and gifts are given.

Helping the Homeless
Homeless people in Hounslow received a cash boost when Congregational & General Insurance donated £2000 to the Mission in Hounslow Trust. The mission offers accommodation and drop - in centres.
